New Blog
So I have created a blog called "make it something different". This blog is based on creating new ways to have fun during dinner. No more turkey Tuesdays, or Spaghetti Sundays every week but maybe stuffed pepper Wednesday or Taco Thursdays.
I will also be looking for new things to do to keep people active in the community. To many people say Cambridge is boring, but all you need are two things:
1) the best people in the world known as your friends to make it fun
2) the initiative to go out there and look!
So to help you guys out, I will go out there myself and try to find something fun to do and let you guys know where it's at! You can find my newest blog at: http://makeitsomethingdifferent.blogspot.com/

My Persona
I have had a thought lately... a serious thought if you believe it... and more or less it's to do with my blog. As most of you know I love to talk and I love to post things because I love to talk. It works very well together. But, I've gone over some of my blogs and I've realized that I can't really talk about things like books or movies and get all critical. I can simply just tell you in person that I think it's crap or that it's brilliant. Not only that, but I see some other reviews and they are far better written than I could ever muster (not meaning to put myself down, but it's true!)
So... what I am trying to say is, I think I need a theme for my blog. No longer "Just James" because that's who I am to my closest friends, not so much my readers.
I have had some ideas on my mind however. Some of these ideas I hope will help you guys get inspired to be creative. If you're wondering, I was thinking of things like recipes and how to keep active. It'll be simple at first, but as time goes on I hope to grow with this and use it in my future career perhaps!
So get ready for a shift in blog reading real soon. I might even put it together tonight! If you guys have any concerns (since most of you use this to keep up to date with my life) then comment below!

Hey guys!
I am sorry to all of you who read my blog. I have been super crazy and I've not had anything interesting to blog about lately. So I apologize if you were getting bored because nothing new was up! I will be updating it with something interesting soon... in fact there might even be some changes later! Good changes!

Alice in Wonderland

I sort of wish I had read the book first, however I do understand the story from the good old animated Disney classic. The only thing that really sucked about watching the movie is that I didn't get to see it in 3D. I believe the animation behind all the special effects would have been more powerful if I had.
Some parts even seemed fuzzy. Did they just throw the 3D one on the screen and forgot to give us the glasses?
But besides all that, the only other downside to the film was the lack of energy from Alice herself played by Mia Wasikowska. I think she gave us the most of her acting skills at the end when she takes part in the final battle, which in itself was a little short.
But nothing could go wrong with the rest of the actors who played their roles fabulously. Of course I am talking about Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Anne Hathaway. Besides the outrageous scenary, these actors are the ones who made this film! (Except for Johnny's breakdancing at the end... that could have been left out).
Go see this in theatres. I won't hold it against you! But if you do, go see it in 3D!

The Crazies
Not at all exciting, The Crazies was over emphasized during the commercials giving me the idea that you'd have more involvement with The Crazies themselves. However, the formula for this film included:(This of course happens after the fact that something has gone terribly wrong)
- Wander around
- Find "safety"
- Oh no the military!?!
- We're safe
- Wander around
- Split up
- CRAP A CRAZY!?!?!
- Get away safely...
...and repeat every 20 minutes or so.
I had higher expectations of the film hoping that it would involve more of the zombie theatrics but I guess a lot of other zombie films have given us that all ready and they wanted to involve more military action, which in itself was not that exciting.
I recommend renting it. It's not worth spending 9 bucks on unless you go on a cheap day. Otherwise watch Zombieland... that's scarier than this movie!

The Story of Martha
Grim, relentless, tiresome and yet brilliant!!If you've watched the show you'll understand that the story is taking place between the second last and the last episodes of season three. The Earth has been taken by the Master and the Toclafane are out to kill. Martha however, got away from the Masters trap and with the help of the perception filter, she can hide from the Toclafane and pretty much anybody else.
It's a grueling story to read because you can slowly see the person that Martha is becoming. Such an ordinary person travelling with the Doctor who ends up getting the weight of the world put onto her shoulders. You couldn't ask for a harder fate.
I finished this book in no time. And for me to do that, it must be good! It's a jumble of short stories that can be read and left for a little while. If you're a die hard fan like myself of the series, I say buy it and add it to your collection!

17 Days, 17 Things to Remember
2) The tier that didn't raise during the lighting of the torch.
3) The outrageous and very long outdoor lighting of the torch with Wayne Gretzky
4) The unfortunate accident that began the whole Winter Olympics...
5) The unpredictable weather!
6) Our very first GOLD!! Hurrah Alex!!
7) The next 13 golds to follow!!
8) The look on Dale Beggsmith's face when we kicked his butt!
9) How envious you must've felt, wishing you could be part of the party happening in BC over the last 17 days. I know I am one of them...10) When we stripped Russia from their podium in pairs figure skating.
11) When we beat the women's USA hockey team and then the men's hockey team... AGAIN!?! And we'll also add the look on their face when we did beat them.
13) The red and white that covered the stands.
14) The defeat we faced...
15) The many close calls!
16) The closing ceremony's humour with the relighting of the torch!
17) Seeing how beautiful our nation truely is, how strong our winter warriors can actually be... and how such an event has brought us closer as a nation.

When are the Cylon's going to SMASH!?!
I have just finished watching the latest episode of Caprica, and I am afraid to say that I am a little disappointed... kind of? The show itself has been very well written so far... But, I just don't get where they are trying to go with it? Between the Mobsters of Little Tauron, the sexually active God loving Soldiers of the One, and the young boy who danced with a machine... it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. I am hoping that they will start tying all the pieces together to grab my interest because each week I look forward to the idea of the lone Cylone rampaging throughout the twelve worlds!!
Get it started all ready!!!!

Sharp Right!?!
I want to apologize to all my friends if I have not been keeping in touch lately, but very soon my life is about to take a sharp right before I have the chance to realize it's happened. I'm sat here studying for my PTS exam (for those of you who don't know I'm taking the course to become a personal trainer) and I've realized how much things are going to change.
-I may own a car in a few months!
-Bigger and MORE responsibility.
-New sleeping pattern.
-Pretty much a whole new lifestyle.
There's much more, but I don't want to get into full detail. I just wanted to share with you the close change and hope you realize why I've been so distant. I can't wait though! I'm really looking forward to the lifestyle I've been searching for!

Alex Wins Gold!
For the first time in Canadian history, after hosting the Olympics now for the third time Alex Bilodeau wins us the gold on Canadian soil! It could not have gone to a better person who looks up to his older brother for inspiration, who's family oriented, and who loves the sport so much!
Congratulations Alex! You've now taken the stress off the other athletes shoulders after achieving the gold, now they can go out and do what we do best. Play in the snow!!

Haven't Writting Anything in Time!
I know it's been awhile since I've written anything on my blog so I've decided to suck it up and think of something! The one thing that has been bothering me the most lately it the weather. Has anyone noticed we have not had one snow day, a snow storm, or even a foot of snow on the ground yet? I've been able to see grass the entire season so far! It's as if it's been a very slow transition from fall to spring with a little snow in between.
What bothers me the most is the fact that nobody seems to care. I know snow is annoying but it's starting to show that there is something seriously wrong with our environment! I'm beginning to think that we'll start seeing more of these winters to come.

Caprica
Before the war against machines, Caprica is only beginning its development on the cybernetic brain they'll later call a Cylon. Daniel Graystone, the creator of the first mechanic soldier, had a greater intention before applying the brain to his masterpiece.Losing his daughter in an act of terror, Zoe had created a digital copy of herself in a program meant for teenagers to be free and wild. Now that the real Zoe is dead, her avatar is all that remains of her. Zoe had programed the avatar with all her memories, trying to make her as real as she could. Realizing this Daniel takes advantage of his daughters work and copies the avatar and puts her into his own program. In an attempt to bring her to the real world in his Cylon prototype... he fails.
On the other hand, she later comes back all on her own in the Cylon body. Daniel Greystone doesn't even know of this yet.
What I realized at the end of all this was Zoe will be the first Cylon with the belief of the one true God, who the Cylons believed in duri
ng the Battlestar Galactica series. During Caprica, she is apart of a group known as the "Warriors of One". With the rest of the civilization believing in the Roman Gods, the Warriors of One only believed in the one true God.

Karate Kid or Kung-fu Kid?
The upcoming remake of the karate kid will premier in the new year of 2010 (which happens to be this year). However, I have one tiny thing to complain about. Is it the karate kid or the kung-fu kid? After watching the the most recent commercial for the movie. I have learnt that Jaden Smith plays a young New Yorker who ends up getting his ass kicked by an 11 year old martial art master who will obviously meet his match later in the film.
Jackie Chan, who is now playing Mr. Han in replacement of Mr. Miyagi teaches Jaden the ways of the martial arts to kick this Asian boys ass.
I understand that Hollywood martial art films are obviously flashy and more spectacular than the real thing. But can they get the title right at least? You can not take the term "karate" which is Japanese and use it for a Chinese martial art!! It just doesn't work! People will go to karate schools expecting to learn certain things when in fact they'd be learning something completely different.
So far it's one tiny complaint about the film. I will more than likely see it when it comes out but I am sure I will only have more to complain about after I see it. Though I thoroughly enjoy martial art films, this one will probably aggravate the crap out of me!

Prisoner of the Daleks
By Trevor Baxendale
My sister and I had walked in too Chapters the other day in search for a book for her to read. As we made our way to the Fantasy section of the store, I couldn't help myself turning left in the sci-fi section.
Usually they hardly have any Doctor Who books or at least a wide variety of them. This time however, they had a whack load of tenth Doctor novels which I am sure had to be selling very fast since David Tennant had finished his role as The Doctor.
Picking through the ones that I've seen before, I came across "Prisoner of the Daleks". I don't know why I was so drawn to this book in particular. Maybe it was a new one I hadn't seen before? Perhaps it has the terrifying Daleks in it? Was it the fantastic description on the b
ack of the novel? Or was it the fact that it was cheaper than the others? Either way I went through my wallet to see if I had the right amount for the book and asked for my friends second opinion before buying it.
ack of the novel? Or was it the fact that it was cheaper than the others? Either way I went through my wallet to see if I had the right amount for the book and asked for my friends second opinion before buying it."Excellent book!" He replied. And that was that. I had to buy it.
I read it in four days! Which for me is really fast. The only other book I did that for was Philip Pullmans "The Golden Compass" which was fantastic compared to the movie. (I hated the movie!) And for me to read that fast means that it's a good book! Better than good, a G for Great book!
The story captures the Doctor travelling on his own once again after leaving his last Companion Donna. He's dragged out of his original timeline and sent to the time when the Daleks are still fighting against the Earth Empire far in our future. It's not long until he gets trapped himself and finally gets rescued from a crew of bounty hunters sent out to collect Dalek eye stalks for income. From there it drags you down a twisted path where tables turn for the worse but the Doctor still proves that the Daleks can not stop him even when it seems utterly hopeless.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and was actually disappointed that it had to come to an end. But it's definitely a keeper on my book shelf and a well added addition to my ever growing Doctor Who book collection!
I highly recommend this book to any Doctor Who fan!

P90X - Thumbs up? Or Thumbs Down?
As you can see I have not put up any Day 90 results on this blog. Why? Because without following the nutrition guide there isn't much to show! I do, however, feel healthy and as fit as a fiddle. But was it the P90X or my determination? I've been doing weights now for a couple of years and have always wondered why I never get the results everybody else seems to achieve. I took advice from many different sources and experimented with different methods and still... nothing!! However, it's funneled down to a couple of things. Keep active everyday and watch what you eat. Or at least that's what I've realized so far.
I've been watching and listening to various lifestyles and the outcome is obvious. They sit at a desk and then sit at home watching TV or doing whatever. And they wonder why they have packed on a couple of extra pounds. And it is hard to get out of that routine! I'm still fighting the urge to buy McDonald's from time to time.
My advice is to get out as much as you can. Whether you go for a walk out in the snow, play soccer with the kids or enjoy a relaxing bike ride. It doesn't have to be anything too intense. So long as you're not sitting through most of your day, every little bit counts.

So does P90X work. Yes it does. It works because it gets you off the couch for an hour a day six days a week. Do you have to buy P90X... no. Not unless you want to try something different. You can get the same results anywhere as long as you put your mind to it and commit to your decision.
I do think it'll be the only TV product I'll ever try.
